Catholic Bishop Urges Pro-Life Americans to Pray to End Abortion
District of Columbia | October 26, 2021
Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City encouraged Catholics to join him in “urgent prayers” this fall for an end to abortion and a renewed respect for every human life.
In a message on the archdiocese website, Coakley reminded people that every human life is valuable from conception to natural death, the Catholic News Agency reports.
“We must pray for a renewed focus on the precious gift of life – all life from conception until natural death,” the archbishop said. “We need urgent prayers for our leaders that they have wisdom and courage to create laws and policies that respect the dignity of human life.”
Coakley asked people to join him in prayer for an end to abortion and the death penalty.
“I ask that we offer special prayers now through the beginning of Advent for greater respect for life, and to pray on the day of the execution for victims of these horrendous crimes and their families, and for the souls of the condemned,” Coakley continued…. (Excerpts from LifeNews.com)

Texas pro-life charities respond to abortion law fallout, brace for a ‘post-Roe’ world
District of Columbia, Texas | October 25, 2021
A Texas court once again shuffled the deck last week for women in the state as it dealt with various decisions that have effectively left them in legal limbo.
Amid the uncertainty, pro-life charities and abortion clinics have attempted to adapt while taking on markedly different levels of clients. The heartbeat law, which effectively serves as a six-week abortion ban, is expected to dramatically reduce the number of abortions in the state — leaving community organizations with a likely spike in crisis pregnancies.
Loveline, a Houston-based charity started by former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, told Fox News it saw a 50% nationwide increase in calls in the month after Texas’ law was enacted on Sept. 1. Thirty-three percent of those came from Texas….. (Excerpts from FOX News)

Nancy Pelosi’s Radical Spending Bill Would Overturn Pro-Life Laws, Force Americans to Fund Abortions
California, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey | October 25, 2021
On Friday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy hosted a roundtable on the Hyde Amendment and taxpayer funding of abortions as part of an ongoing series about the Build Back Better reconciliation bill.
Members of Congress attending the roundtable included House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Representative Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Representative Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.), and Representative Andy Harris, M.D. (R-Md.).
The following remarks were made by Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee:
Leader McCarthy, Rep. Smith, Rep. Fischbach, Rep. Harris, thank you for this opportunity to highlight the radical abortion-expanding provisions of this multi-trillion-dollar spending spree.
I am Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee, the federation of state right-to-life organizations nationwide. Since its inception, NRLC’s organizational mission has been to defend the right to life of innocent human beings. Consistent with that mission, NRLC is opposed to government funding of abortion and government subsidies for health insurance plans that cover abortion…. (Excerpts from LIFENEWS.COM)

Alan Dershowitz to Newsmax: Supreme Court Won’t Overrule or Affirm Roe v. Wade
District of Columbia | October 3, 2021
The Supreme Court, while ruling on the restrictive abortion laws coming from states like Texas and Mississippi, will most likely “split the difference” rather than either wholly affirming Roe v. Wade precedent or completely overruling it, legal expert Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax.
“I think they’ll give the states some discretion to decide when viability occurs, but they won’t accept the Texas approach of just six weeks, which is before many women even know they’re pregnant,” Dershowitz told “Saturday Report” host Carl Higbie. “They won’t accept that, and they probably won’t accept the Mississippi case conclusion either. Probably it will be somewhere in between Mississippi and where we are now.”.. (Excerpts from Newsmax)

House Dems united in death
District of Columbia | September 28, 2021
People say it’s hard to find consensus in Washington, but Democrats have found plenty on one issue: abortion. At least in the House, the idea of middle ground has vanished. When it comes to the taking of innocent life, the battle lines are clear: Republicans are 100-percent opposed, and all but one Democrat is in favor.
With all that’s going on in the world, you’d think Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) would have better things to do than reignite a vicious debate over late-term abortion. But with very little for the Democratic Party to agree on these days, the California radical decided it was time to bring everyone back together with a vote on her disingenuously named “Women’s Health Protection Act” — a bill so radical that it would wipe away every state restriction on abortion and legalize it right up to the moment of birth… (Excerpts from American Family News)

House Passes Bill To Allow Abortion on Demand Nationwide
District of Columbia | September 27, 2021
The House of Representatives voted nearly along party lines Friday to pass a bill that will allow abortion on demand nationwide, superseding state-level abortion restrictions.
The Women’s Health Protection Act codifies Roe v. Wade into law, making it illegal for states to restrict abortion access. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) brought the bill to the floor after Texas enacted a law banning abortion after six weeks. The House bill allows abortion up to birth if a doctor determines that a “continuation of the pregnancy would pose a risk to the pregnant patient’s life or health.” “Abortion services are essential to health care and access to those services is central to people’s ability to participate equally in the economic and social life of the United States,” the bill states….
