Kansas | November 7, 2021
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly (D) slammed on Friday President Joe Biden’s attempt to unilaterally mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for millions of Americans.
Kelly’s comments came one day after the White House formally announced the mandate for businesses that employee more than 100 people. The mandate is being implemented via the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and requires unvaccinated employees to undergo routine COVID-19 testing.
What did Kelly say?
In a statement on Friday, Kelly condemned the mandate as neither “correct,” nor “effective.”… (Excerpts from the Blaze)

Fiscal Conservatism Is Still Best Way to Beat Inflation
District of Columbia, Kansas | August 10, 2021
President Joe Biden counterintuitively argues that his proposed massive increases in government spending are the keys to beating back inflation, which hit 5.4% last month, and contends that “no serious economist” thinks unchecked inflation is on its way.
According to his own advisers, Biden is wrong on both counts. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on July 15 said she expects “several more months of rapid inflation.” Meanwhile, Larry Summers, who served as treasury secretary under President Bill Clinton, has said there is a 2-in-3 chance we’re heading toward severe inflation-related economic pain.
Americans are also concerned with Biden’s economic crisis. One recent poll found about 70% of respondents are worried that Biden’s spending plans could lead to inflation, and another survey found that 83% of Americans noticed price increases in June and July.
Their concerns are well-founded.
Almost half of small businesses have already said they’re raising prices to keep up with rising costs. Those higher prices are here to stay for hardworking families, as it’s rare that prices across the board ever deflate after rising… (Excerpts from the Daily Signal)

Kansas Gubernatorial Candidate Derek Schmidt Signs ‘1776 Pledge’ to Fight ‘Anti-American Indoctrination’
Kansas | June 22, 2021
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt (R), who is looking to unseat Gov. Laura Kelly (D) in next year’s gubernatorial election, became on Monday the first in the race to sign a candidate pledge aimed at combatting divisive race-based curricula in public schools.
Upon signing the pledge, dubbed the “1776 Pledge to Save Our Schools” and launched last month by the group 1776 Action, Schmidt indicated in a statement he opposes school teachings that cause students to think they are “oppressors or victims” depending on their skin color or sex.
“We can teach our children the whole truth about American history, good and bad, without resorting to controversial and divisive political theories that leave kids believing they are inherently oppressors or victims,” he said, adding that public education should not “discount the fundamental goodness of American freedoms and values.”..

Kansas Lawmakers Override Governor’s Gun Bill Veto, Lowering Concealed Carry Age to 18
Kansas lawmakers on Monday voted to override Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of a gun bill, lowering the minimum concealed carry age from 21 to 18 years of age.
After a short discussion, the House voted 84 to 39 to override the Democratic governor’s veto of HB 2058 that proposes to let more people carry guns if they have a proper permit. The Senate also voted to override the veto 31 to 8.
Republicans currently hold an 84–41 majority in the state’s lower chamber and a 29–11 majority in the state Senate. A two-thirds vote in both chambers is required to overturn a veto. With that achieved, the bill will be enacted without the governor’s signature…
