Ted Cruz: Texas secession in play if Democrats ‘fundamentally destroy’ U.S.
Texas | November 9, 2021
Sen. Ted Cruz said he understands people who want Texas to secede from the U.S. and that Democratic rule could make matters “hopeless” enough for it.
The Texas Republican said that he doesn’t favor secession now, but cautioned that he could imagine circumstances changing if Democrats in Washington get their way.
“If the Democrats end the filibuster, if they fundamentally destroy the country, if they pack the Supreme Court, if they make D.C. a state, if they federalize elections, if they massively expand voter fraud, there may come a point where it’s hopeless,” Mr. Cruz said… (Excerpts from the Washington Times)

Crenshaw Debunks the ‘Endless Wars’ Fallacy . .
Texas | August 19, 2021
Dan Crenshaw may be a rising Republican star thanks to his ability to speak with uncommon pointed clarity on the issues of the day. But his latest op-ed on Afghanistan is the fruit of his intellect and his experience: “He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 as a member of the U.S. Navy’s SEAL Team 3.” Crenshaw writes: The “no more endless wars” position has a blind spot: Its advocates are unable to distinguish between wasteful nation building and a small residual force that conducts occasional counter-terror operations. As a result, when many Americans hear that there is a single soldier on the ground in Afghanistan, they interpret it to mean “nation building” and “world police.” That’s wrong. There are a lot of foreign policy options between nation building and giving up. He notes that the U.S. found a pretty good balance in that regard for much of the last 20 years, and it could continue almost indefinitely at minimal cost. The U.S. presence in Afghanistan was meeting the original strategic goal of denying a safe haven for terrorists and preventing another 9/11. The 18 months before withdrawal saw no U.S. combat deaths. Does that really sound like “endless war” in any traditional sense? More important, does it sound better or worse than the current outcome?… (Excerpts from the Patriot Post)

House Foreign Affairs Committee Reveals Latest on COVID-19 Origin Probe
District of Columbia, Texas | August 4, 2021
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) released a report on the COVID-19 pandemic’s origins Monday, alleging that China concealed COVID-19’s leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in 2019. McCaul, the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s ranking member, says China is guilty of the “greatest coverup of all time”. Many health experts and scientists in the U.S. continue to stress that the theory that a Chinese laboratory leak set off the pandemic remains unlikely, though warrants further investigation. The House report states that “the preponderance of the evidence proves the virus did leak from the WIV and that it did so sometime before September 12, 2019.” It highlights “the sudden removal of the WIV’s virus and sample database” on that date, as well as “unusually scheduled maintenance at the WIV,” as evidence of the lab leak theory. The theory was dismissed as a conspiracy in early 2020 by many public health officials, Democratic leaders and mainstream media sources… (Excerpts from Allsides.com)

Texas House Rep. Arrested During Voting Protest in Washington
District of Columbia, Texas | July 30, 2021
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) confirmed Thursday that she was arrested as she engaged in a voting protest in Washington.
Lee and other protesters were standing in front of an entrance to the Senate Hart Building when the Capitol Police told them that it was their final warning and would have to disperse, according to footage posted by the Democrat’s office.
“Yes, I engaged in civil disobedience today in front of the Hart Building in Washington, D.C., and was arrested,” Jackson Lee said. “I believe when you are getting into good trouble—when you realize that the 15th Amendment has guaranteed the fundamental right to vote. Any action that is a peaceful action of civil disobedience is worthy and more to push all of us to do better and to do more.”
The protesters, according to Lee, were demanding the passage of two Democrat-backed election overhaul bills… (Excerpt from the Epoch Times)

GOP Congressmen Schedule News Conference at Justice Department to Demand Answers on Jan. 6 Detainees
Arizona, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Texas | July 27, 2021
Members of Congress who have been pressing federal law enforcement officials unsuccessfully for months about the conditions and treatment of hundreds of Jan. 6 Capitol detainees will take their case to the doors of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Tuesday.
They also want to know why federal law enforcement authorities were warned weeks before the breach, yet Members of Congress were not told, and evidence has since accumulated that the Capitol Police were not properly informed or prepared by their leadership.
Representatives Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said Monday they will gather at DOJ at 1 pm to make public the demands they made in a letter last week to Attorney General Merrick Garland…. (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

Cruz Blocks Israel Bill Over Watered-Down Support for Jewish State
District of Columbia, Texas | July 26, 2021
Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) is blocking a piece of Israel-related legislation over concerns that the measure’s language waters down support for the Jewish state, congressional sources confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon on Monday.
Cruz will also introduce an amendment to the legislation that strips the contested language and replaces it with a statement enshrining American support for Israel, according to a copy of that amendment also obtained by the Free Beacon. The senator will block the bill from moving forward until his amendment is considered.
The bill in question is the Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021, which has been working its way through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is now coming up for a vote in the Senate. The legislation broadly aims to solidify congressional support for Abraham Accords peace agreements but has been subject to increasing controversy in recent weeks due to the last-minute inclusion of language that would establish a different U.S. policy equivocating on diplomatic support for Israel and Palestinian statehood….
