Lawmakers Introducing Legislation Targeting Enablers of International Corruption After Pandora Papers Findings

District of Columbia, Florida, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee | October 7, 2021

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is set to introduce new legislation aimed at stopping enablers of international corruption in response to the findings highlighted in the Pandora Papers investigation.

The Establishing New Authorities for Business Laundering and Enabling Risks to Security (ENABLERS) Act would make it harder for “kleptocrats” across the globe to launder money in the United States, according to Reps. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.), Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), and Joe Wilson (R-S.C.).

The bill (pdf) would amend the 51-year-old Bank Secrecy Act by enabling the Treasury Department to impose stronger due diligence requirements on the source of funds for investment advisers, art dealers, attorneys involved in financial activity, company service providers, accountants, PR firms, and third-party payment providers.

Such a due diligence requirement could be something as simple as asking if suspicious funds are the proceeds from a crime…. (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

Sen. Blackburn Slams Unraveling Biden ‘Build Back Broke’ Agenda

District of Columbia, Tennessee | October 3, 2021

President Joe Biden’s social infrastructure plan is a roadmap to “Build Back Broke,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said Sunday.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Blackburn said the sheer cost of the program would derail the ambitious plan.

“The ‘Build Back Better’ agenda has become the Biden ‘Build Back Broke’ agenda, and the American people have figured out what they’re trying to do is institutionalize socialism,” Blackburn charged.

“They’re trying to do a takeover of the country in one vote. They want government control of your kids, they want to look at your bank account for every transaction over $600, anything that you do on Venmo and PayPal, they want a part of that transaction,” she railed…. (Excerpts from Newsmax)

Senator Blackburn says don’t play politics with lifesaving monoclonal antibodies treatment

Tennessee | September 24, 2021

enior Senator Marsha Blackburn, (R) TN, tells FOX 17 News she’s requested a formal briefing from the Health and Human Services Secretary on how monoclonal antibodies are being allocated to states.

The Biden Administration has taken over distribution of the antibody treatment to states, saying 70 percent of the supply so far has been needed in states with the lowest vaccination rates including Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana.

Senator Blackburn says this amounts to playing politics with life and death explaining, “It is astounding to me that this administration would push so far left that they would look at American citizens and say we’re not going to let you have this treatment even though it’s a life saving treatment. We’re not going to let you have this. This is why we have asked for a personal briefing. It’s why we continue to work with our local and state officials, our healthcare providers to address this situation. It is wrong.”… (Excerpts from Fox 17 Nashville)

Tennessee Representative Rose Calls Out Biden Claim That ‘Crime Is Down’

Tennessee | July 30, 2021

In House floor remarks on Thursday, Representative John Rose (R-TN-06) called out President Joe Biden for insisting in a CNN Town Hall with host Don Lemon a week ago that “crime is down” even as murder rates rise.

The current rise in violent crime has been broadly acknowledged by an array of journalistic and academic observers, and even by liberal outlets like The Atlantic Monthly.

Rose called attention to murders having risen by 533 percent in Portland, 50 percent in Minneapolis, 35 percent in Philadelphia, and 24 percent in Los Angeles compared to those cities’ rates a year ago. He also cited a 91-percent rise in anti-police ambushes over the past year.

“Right now, American families are being forced to face an explosion of violent crime in their streets and their neighborhoods,” he said. “After the riots of the past year, which saw the destruction of both public and private property, and as we undergo one of the worst crime waves in modern history, citizens are deservedly concerned about their safety and well-being.”… (Excerpts from the Tennessee Star)

Senator Marsha Blackburn Questions Biden Administration Collaboration With Big Tech

District of Columbia, Tennessee | July 20, 2021

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) called on the Biden administration to explain the extent of their collaboration with Big Tech companies to censor individuals on social media.

Blackburn’s letter comes after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki indicated that the administration has worked with Big Tech to limit “misinformation” regarding COVID-19.

“We are in regular touch with these social media platforms, and those engagements typically happen through members of our senior staff, but also members of our COVID-19 team,” Psaki said in her press briefing.

Blackburn argued the move by the executive branch is limiting American free speech.

“What the Biden White House is doing—namely, ordering big tech companies to ban Americans that do not regurgitate government approved messaging—is what authoritarian regimes do. The American people deserve to know the extent of the White House’s coordination with big tech. President Biden should waive executive privilege and release the emails,” she said in a statement.

In Blackburn’s letter, the Tennessee Senator laid out multiple questions to determine the level of involvement by White House officials.

“What is the legal basis for your Administration’s decision to direct social media platforms to flag and remove posts from their sites? Does the White House have staff dedicated to searching social media for content to flag for removal?” she questioned….

Senator Blackburn and Fauci Go Toe-to-Toe Over His Emails and Relationship with Big Tech

Tennessee | June 14, 2021

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) challenged Dr. Anthony Fauci this week over his handling of COVID-19 and apparent collusion with Big Tech. Following the mass release of Fauci’s emails through an open records request last week, Blackburn published a video Tuesday to offer some summarized insight on Fauci’s involvement in the COVID-19 outbreak and his email correspondence with Facebook.

“Here are the facts on Fauci that big tech doesn’t want you to know,” tweeted Blackburn.

Blackburn explained that Fauci and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussed means of controlling the narrative around COVID-19, and shared how the National Institute of Health (NIH) provided nearly $1 million to Wuhan lab research under Fauci’s directive.

Okay, a lot of information going on stirring around the Wuhan lab and COVID-19. Here are some facts that I want you to know. First of all – yes, Dr. Fauci was emailing with Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook, trying to create that narrative, cherry-picking information so that you would only know what they wanted you to know and there would be a narrative that would fit with this cherry-picked information. The second thing [to] be aware of: it was Dr. Fauci and his agency that wrote that check, sent that money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to do this coronavirus research…
