California’s State Pension Invests Millions in Chinese State-Owned Companies
California | September 2, 2021
CalPERS has $490 million tied up in companies funding Belt and Road
California’s state pension invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Chinese state-owned enterprises linked to the People’s Liberation Army, according to records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) had more than $3 billion invested in Chinese companies, including 14 state-controlled enterprises blacklisted by the Trump administration, as of June 2020. Many of these companies are funding the Belt and Road Initiative, a massive infrastructure project Beijing is using to expand its geopolitical and military influence.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D., Calif.), who recently praised a Chinese-owned media company for its “journalistic integrity,” has not commented on CalPERS’s Chinese investments. It is a notable silence from the embattled governor, who has called on CalPERS, the country’s largest public pension system, to divest from tobacco companies and companies linked to the Turkish government. Newsom faces a recall election on Sept. 14.
CalPERS had more than $450 million invested in 14 Chinese companies the Trump administration put on an investment blacklist last year because of their ties to the Chinese military. President Donald Trump’s executive order, which the Biden administration has continued, prohibited Americans from investing in companies that aid the Chinese military…. (Excerpts from Free Beacon)

Halfway Through CA Legislative Session: Seven Worst of the Worst Still Alive
California | June 7, 2021
The first half of this year’s legislative session is officially over. In order to survive, bills had to make it out of the first legislative house by today. Unfortunately, many of the state bills the California Family Council is very concerned about and opposing received approval to move forward.
Below are the seven worst of the worst pieces of legislation still heading on to the next legislative house for consideration before going to the governor’s desk. We hope and pray California Christians, motivated by a love for their neighbor, will publicly oppose these bills and talk to their own legislators about them.
Over the next few weeks, everyone needs to contact their state representatives to voice their opinion about these bills. Those who don’t know their legislators’ contact information can find that here.

The National Association of Attorneys General had to urge Facebook to drop a potentially “harmful” project targeted at kids. Apparently, Facebook needs to be encouraged to protect children online.
Attorneys general from 44 states and territories sent a letter to Facebook Chief Executive Officer and founder Mark Zuckerberg. The Attorneys General urged Zuckerberg to scrap plans to develop an Instagram platform for children under the age of 13. Facebook is the parent company of Instagram. ..

Homeless Camps Are Taking Over the West Coast
California | May 10, 2021
Democrat cities have allowed hundreds of homeless encampments to pop up along the West Coast. Homelessness isn’t new to places like San Francisco, L.A., Seattle, Sacramento, and so on. I was in Portland 12 years ago for a comedy gig. The park in front of the club looked like a scene from Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. Today it looks like the Walking Dead. Homeless camps are popping up all over the West Coast and bringing violence, drugs, weapons, and defecation with them. When I was a kid, camping meant fishing and catching toads, not getting shot and stepping in people poop. Los Angeles has seen a 50% increase in homelessness over the last five years. LA’s Venice Beach homeless encampment recently had an explosion and a shooting. The question city officials are asking: where did they find the ammo?..

California Drops in Population for the First Time in Recorded History
California | May 9, 2021
Following an unprecedented exodus of citizens last year, California saw its population decline for the first time in recorded history.
While the bust of the Gold Rush in the 19th Century couldn’t dissuade people from flocking to paradise on Earth, in 2020, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the state was unable to attract enough people to replace those fleeing for the first time ever. Politico reported that California lost a net number of residents totaling more than 180,000 people from January of 2020 to January of this year, or 0.46 percent of its total population.
Numbers released by the state Department of Finance showed that the state’s high cost of living and taxes, along with its embrace of restrictions on liberties and commerce, arguably chased away more people than it would normally attract to replace those people…
