Herzog taps former Netanyahu spokesman Naor Ihia as his own spokesman

Incoming president Isaac Herzog announces that he will appoint Naor Ihia as his spokesperson, defying some left-wing critics who have highlighted Ihia’s past work as spokesperson for former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ihia, 32, has served as Netanyahu’s political spokesman and as the Likud party spokesman for the past two years.
Herzog has faced pressure not to appoint Ihia, with some, including prominent left-wing activist Eldad Yaniv, hinting the appointment is part of a deal for Herzog to pardon Netanyahu if the latter is convicted in his ongoing corruption trial.
Herzog also says he’ll appoint his longtime chief of staff Eyal Shviki as the director-general of the President’s Residence, and Dikla Cohen Sheinfeld as his chief of staff…
