DOJ Launches Investigation of Phoenix Police Department

The U.S. Justice Department is launching an investigation of the Phoenix Police Department over its established practices involving the use of force and police conduct toward the homeless and people with disabilities.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke for the Civil Rights Division announced the investigation on Thursday at a press conference.
“Today, we are announcing that the Justice Department is opening an investigation into the city of Phoenix and the Phoenix Police Department,” Garland said. “The investigation will determine whether the Phoenix Police Department engages in a pattern or practice of violations of the Constitution or federal law.”… (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)
