Biden traveled in 85-car motorcade before attending climate summit
International | November 5, 2021
In Europe, he went first to Rome, where the staff was immense because everyone wants to see the pope, before heading to the COP26 summit in Glasgow. The president always travels with a sizable contingent of aides, military officials, and medical officials. But this time, his retinue was padded even further for his audience with Pope Francis – his fourth. While in Rome, an old city with many narrow roads, Biden’s motorcade was extended by Italian COVID-19 restrictions which limit passengers to four people per vehicle…. Biden arrives at Glasgow summit with big promises on climate despite legislative losses
International | November 1, 2021
President Biden arrived in Scotland for a major summit on Monday promising to deliver the largest-ever U.S. effort to deal with climate change even as his plans remain in limbo back in Washington.
Standing with fellow global leaders in Glasgow at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the COP26 summit, Mr. Biden plans to promote a $555 billion investment in cleaner forms of energy and “climate-smart” practices in a bid to cut greenhouse gas emissions to 50% below 2005 levels in 2030, “all while creating good-paying, union jobs at home.”
Yet Mr. Biden heads into the meeting without the legislative win he needs to support his goals, as members of his own party bicker over the final details of a framework the White House announced last week to pass a roads-and-bridges infrastructure bill and parallel social-spending legislation…. Climate Financing Plan Won’t Help Climate, but Will Push Country to Totalitarianism: Experts
District of Columbia | October 26, 2021
The Biden administration’s plan to impose a slew of financial regulations in order to counter climate change would end up having little impact on reducing global temperatures. But the measures would be quite effective at hurting economy, expanding government authority, and moving the country toward totalitarianism, according to several experts.
Biden’s plan, sketched out in a recent “roadmap” White House report, would infuse projections on climate change into decisions across the financial industry (pdf). Applying for a mortgage or other loans? The bank would consider the “climate risk” of underwriting it. Taking out an insurance? “Climate risk” would play into your premium. Putting money into a pension or investment fund? The fund managers would be free to consider “climate risk” in deciding where to invest your money. Buying stocks on your own? Public companies would need to divert part of their attention to explaining “climate risks” they face. Applying for a government contract? Prepare to justify your carbon footprint… (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

Illinois Dem Pushes for ‘Clean Energy’ Subsidies That Would Pad His Pocket
Illinois | September 16, 2021
Illinois Democratic representative Sean Casten has urged Congress to spend billions of dollars on “tax credits for clean energy.” Excluded from his pitch is any mention of his ownership stake in an alternative energy company that would benefit from such spending.
Casten on Monday joined environmental advocates at a “Climate Action Now” rally, imploring his House colleagues to pass President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion spending plan with “no compromises” on subsidies and incentives for the alternative energy sector. Casten did not divulge his vested financial interest in those provisions. According to Casten’s latest financial disclosure, the Democrat holds an ownership stake in Greenleaf Power, a self-described “leading provider of renewable energy in North America.” The company, its website states, sells carbon-neutral electricity to “municipal, public power, and investor owned utilities.” Biden’s multitrillion-dollar bill, meanwhile, includes a $150 billion program to compel electric and municipal power providers to purchase more renewable energy… (Excerpts from the Washington Free Beacon)

A New National Climate Army
| August 2, 2021
As the U.S. recovers from a pandemic, with workers in services and manufacturing in short supply across the economy, here’s what no one sensible thinks America urgently needs: a huge new federal Civilian Climate Corps.
Yet that’s exactly what Democrats want to create as part of their plan to expand government into every corner of American life. It isn’t enough to lecture Americans about the supposed perils of climate change. Now they also want to tax you and other Americans to pay your children to spend years lecturing you.
President Joe Biden has requested $10 billion for the climate shock troops in his American Jobs Plan. Like so many other ideas in this Administration, the idea comes from the Democratic left, specifically the Sunrise Movement and Evergreen Action. Their idea was adopted by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, who have proposed a Climate Corps that employs 1.5 million Americans over five years.
The precedent is FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps, which paid Americans to work when the jobless rate was more than 20% in the Depression. But Sunrise says that program had “deep flaws, including exclusionary racist and sexist practices of hiring almost solely white men and its nonconsensual development on stolen Native American land.” Evergreen Action says the Climate Corps would “confront the interlocking crises of climate change, environmental and racial injustice, and economic inequality.”… (Excerpts from the Wall Street Journal)

Dozens of Climate Change Agitators Arrested After Storming White House, Blocking Entrances
District of Columbia | July 1, 2021
Dozens of left-wing activists from a climate change political action group were arrested by Secret Service agents on Monday after they marched to the White House and blocked entrances as part of a #NoClimateNoDeal protest. Agitators from the far-left, Soros-funded Sunrise Movement were reportedly demanding that Joe Biden stop negotiating with Republican politicians, meet with Sunrise executive director Varshini Prakash, and include a fully funded “Civilian Climate Corps” in the infrastructure bill…
