Biden’s Vaccine Mandate Will Worsen Pennsylvania Nursing Home Staffing Crisis
Pennsylvania | October 1, 2021
While Pennsylvania nursing homes and long-term care facilities already face major staffing challenges, the federal vaccine mandate and a new state-proposed minimum staffing requirement could devastate the industry.
President Joe Biden’s 100 percent vaccine mandate for healthcare workers is expected to throw thousands of employees out of a job, in an industry that has struggled to find workers in the last decade.
Around 35 percent of Pennsylvania’s nursing home workforce is unvaccinated. That amounts to roughly 33,000 workers who would lose their jobs if they don’t get the shots, Zach Shamberg, CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association told The Epoch Times in a phone interview. That only counts nursing home workers. Add thousands of more workers at assisted living communities, personal care homes, hospitals, and doctor’s offices…. (Excerpts from the Epoch times)

Philadelphia will require city workers to wear two face masks if they are not fully vaccinated
Pennsylvania | August 16, 2021
City workers in Philadelphia will be required to wear two face masks if they decide not to become vaccinated against COVID-19. Philadelphia announced the new policy on Wednesday. The new COVID guidelines, which take effect on Sept. 1, require all city employees to prove they are fully vaccinated. If Philadelphia city employees cannot prove they are fully vaccinated by Sept. 1, they will be “required to wear two masks” which the policy explains as “a cloth mask over a disposable or surgical mask” at “all times while working on-site.”.. Pennsylvania Lifts All COVID-19 Restrictions Except Mask Mandate
Pennsylvania | June 1, 2021
Pennsylvania on Monday lifted the bulk of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions, though a mask mandate remains in place for unvaccinated people, Gov. Tom Wolf said.
All businesses, events, and venues can return to 100 percent capacity starting Monday, Wolf’s office said.
“It’s an exciting day in Pennsylvania: COVID-19 mitigation orders have now been lifted,” Wolf wrote in a May 31 tweet, adding that masking requirements will remain in effect until June 28 at the latest.
“The masking requirement will be lifted on June 28 or when 70 [percent] of Pennsylvania adults are fully vaccinated, whichever comes first,” Wolf wrote…

Pennsylvania voters impose new limits on governor’s powers
Pennsylvania | May 19, 2021
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania voters became the first in the nation to curb their governor’s emergency powers, approving constitutional amendments proposed by Republican lawmakers angry over Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s handling of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The vote on Tuesday’s statewide primary ballot came as Republican lawmakers across the country have sought to roll back the emergency powers governors wielded during the COVID-19 pandemic. Republicans see the referendum as a victory with strong political overtones, as the state gears up for a wide-open governor’s race in 2022 and Wolf leaving office after two terms.
Republicans in the state Legislature and those aiming to replace him in 2023 have made Wolf their top political target, repeatedly attacking his stewardship during the pandemic, including his orders shuttering businesses, sending students home for online schooling and ordering masks worn outside the home.
“Last night, Pennsylvanians voted to reject Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf’s overreach of executive powers after his failed COVID response — a clear sign of accountability coming in 2022,” Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted Wednesday morning.

TX and FL Report Fewer COVID Cases Than Locked-Down PA, MI & NY
Florida, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas | April 27, 2021
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was widely criticized by the left after he completely reversed the state’s mandate on March 10 and fully reopened his state. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was also accused of endangering Florida residents when he allowed businesses to fully reopen in September without a mask mandate in place.
While both states managed to keep case positivity rates down and begin the long road to economic recovery, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan — who are still bound to ongoing restrictions — have led the daily increase in COVID-19 cases.
Together, New York, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey accounted for 44% of all new infections between March 29 and April 4 with about 197,500 cases out of around 452,000 seen nationwide, data from John Hopkins University show. ..
