Hundreds Protest Vaccination Mandates in Michigan
Michigan | August 8, 2021
About 800 protesters gathered Friday afternoon on the grounds outside the Michigan State Capitol to rally against government mandates for vaccinations and masks.
In a call for residents to push back against the government’s increasingly intrusive health policies and protect Americans’ rights during the pandemic, Tammy Clark, executive director of the conservative group “Stand Up Michigan,” encouraged the audience to let their voices be heard through non-violent civil disobedience.
“If we don’t stop this now, we won’t get another chance,” Clark said. “Let’s show the government that the employees of this country will not tolerate this tyranny. We have inalienable rights and we are not going to give them up. We must refuse to comply with the vaccine mandates and forced mask-wearing at all costs. If you lose your job, go out and get another job!”.. (Excerpts from The Epoch Times)

Michigan House OKs bill that would ban state ‘vaccine passports’
Michigan | June 2, 2021
Lansing — The Michigan House voted 62-47 Wednesday on legislation that would ban state and local agencies from developing a vaccine passport or vaccine requirement to receive state services.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office has said no COVID-19 vaccine passport has been proposed in Michigan, but House lawmakers have couched it as a preemptive measure against such a policy.
Many of the appropriations bills passed by the House include boilerplate language preventing state agencies from requiring proof of vaccination for service. A separate House bill that has not yet had a hearing would prohibit employers from requiring a vaccine or forcing an employee to disclose whether he or she had a vaccination. ..

Michigan House Votes to Block Most COVID-19 Business Fines
Michigan | May 27, 2021
The Michigan House of Representatives voted this week to approve a bill that would bar the state’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration from levying fines against many businesses accused of breaking COVID-19 emergency rules.
The bill would not allow the department to assess a business if the violation was its first and the business takes action to correct it.
Moreover, if a business has or is fined in the future based on an executive order from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and that order is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise voided by the Michigan Supreme Court, the department must reimburse the business for the fine…

Michigan mask mandate now applies to children ages 2-4 — and day care owner complains, ‘We’re struggling
Michigan | April 28, 2021
A new Michigan mask mandate applying to children ages 2 through 4 went into effect Monday, requiring them to wear masks in all public places, including schools, child care centers, and camps.
WZZM-TV noted that in April, the state has tallied a spike in COVID-19 cases among children, and last week some hospital leaders said they are treating more children for the virus than ever before — even ones with no underlying conditions.
But the new mask mandate has created new problems for those charged with enforcing it — and the station profiled a day care center that is experiencing difficulties…

TX and FL Report Fewer COVID Cases Than Locked-Down PA, MI & NY
Florida, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas | April 27, 2021
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was widely criticized by the left after he completely reversed the state’s mandate on March 10 and fully reopened his state. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was also accused of endangering Florida residents when he allowed businesses to fully reopen in September without a mask mandate in place.
While both states managed to keep case positivity rates down and begin the long road to economic recovery, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan — who are still bound to ongoing restrictions — have led the daily increase in COVID-19 cases.
Together, New York, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey accounted for 44% of all new infections between March 29 and April 4 with about 197,500 cases out of around 452,000 seen nationwide, data from John Hopkins University show. ..
