Eighteen months, 5,000 students: Idaho colleges and universities face a deep enrollment decline
Idaho | June 24, 2021
Idaho’s public colleges and universities have lost more than 5,000 students since the pandemic.
It’s not worst-case scenario stuff. The 18-month dropoff was 8.7%, but administrators feared a 20% decrease.
By placing a premium on face-to-face learning — in the midst of a public health crisis — the Idaho schools served those students who were determined to start or continue college. Students who were willing to travel across state lines for an in-person classroom experience. Students who wouldn’t, or couldn’t, put their education on hold.
The story of Idaho higher education in 2020-21 is one of adaptation.
Boise State University administrators scrambled to move classes from lecture halls to the stands at ExtraMile Arena. Professors adjusted to move classes to an online platform, including hands-on labs that didn’t translate easily to the Zoom zone. Students adjusted to face masks, socially distanced dorms and cafeterias and frequent COVID tests — and some said they got into the habit of sleeping in, clicking on their laptops and quickly logging into an online class while wearing pajamas…

State bans critical race theory in public schools
Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia | April 28, 2021
The Idaho State Legislature has become the first in the nation to put a bill on a governor’s desk that would ban Marxist-based critical race theory from being taught in public schools.
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Texas and West Virginia are among other states considering bans on such teaching, which regards America and Western Civilization as inherently racist…

Idaho House Rejects Critical Race Theory
Idaho | April 9, 2021
Throughout the country, lefitst activists have successfully infiltrated all aspects of government, media, and business with claims that America is irredeemably racist, and such racism is baked into our political and economic systems. These extremists believe that to combat this “systemic” racism, American systems and ideals must be scrutinized and dismantled….
This dismantling includes the elimination of private property, capitalism, and the curtailment of freedom of speech. It means replacing our free society with socialism. Of course, the radical Left and their allies in the media don’t portray it this way; they instead rant and rave about “diversity and inclusion,” believing somewhat accurately that it’s hard to argue with such happy sounding words….
But they go on to portray the world as divided into victims and oppressors. You’re either one or the other. Oppressors, generally speaking, are the beneficiaries of a system they designed. They, therefore, are usually white, male, and heterosexual. Victims are everyone else, and your ranking in the sliding scale of victimhood depends on the color of your skin, gender, and sexual orientation. Oppressors can help victims by recognizing their “privilege.”
