DeSantis Moves To Buy Antibody Treatments Directly From Manufacturer After Biden Tightens Grip On Supply

Florida | September 17, 2021

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that he was “very, very concerned” with Democrat President Joe Biden’s decision to restrict the distribution of monoclonal antibodies to states amid a surge in demand by states in the South.

“Just last week on September 9th, President Joe Biden said that his administration would be increasing shipments of monoclonal antibodies in September by 50%, and yet on September 13th, HHS announced that it was seizing control of the monoclonal antibody supply and that it would control distribution, and then on September 14th, the announcement was more than 50% of the monoclonal antibodies that had been used in Florida were going to be reduced,” DeSantis said. “So this is a dramatic reduction, and I’d say it’s doubly problematic because what Shane Strum and folks in Tampa General and these other hospital systems that have been doing this, they’re not getting.. Florida to Start Fining Businesses $5,000 for Violations of Vaccine Passport Ban

Florida | September 3, 2021

The Florida Department of Health has issued a notice indicating it will start issuing $5,000 fines to businesses, schools, and government agencies that require Floridians to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

The health department rule, which goes into effect on Sept. 16, details the penalties that businesses and other entities, including nonprofits, face for violating section 381.00316 of the 2021 Florida Statutes, which prohibits them from requiring customers or patrons to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or postinfection recovery in order to gain access to their premises or services.

“Each violation of Section 381.00316, F.S., will result in the imposition of a $5,000 fine per individual and separate violation against the business, governmental entity or the educational institution. Fines imposed are due and payable to the Department within 30 days of entry of the final order unless otherwise stated in the final order,” reads the Florida Department of Health notice… (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

DeSantis fights court’s ruling allowing masks in schools

Florida | September 3, 2021

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has appealed a judge’s ruling that states the governor exceeded his authority by ordering school districts to not require mask mandates for their schools. In a court filing Thursday, DeSantis’s attorneys took his appeal to the 1st District Court of Appeal in an attempt to reverse Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper’s ruling.  Cooper last week gave power to all 67 school districts in the state to impose mask requirements at the behest of parents. Cooper agreed with the lawsuit parents filed against DeSantis saying that his executive order was unconstitutional and stated that it cannot be enforced… (Excerpts from The Hill)

DeSantis to Appeal After Judge Rules Executive Order Unconstitutional

Florida | August 29, 2021

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to appeal after a judge ruled that his executive order to block school mask mandates is unconstitutional.

Leon County Judge John Cooper ruled on Friday that the state could not sanction local school boards that require masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, namely the Delta variant, on school property.

The judge said that DeSantis’s executive order interpreted the “Parents’ Bill of Rights” that was signed into law in July to mean he could ban mask mandates in schools.

“This orphan statute does not support a statewide order or any action interfering with the constitutionally provided authority of local school districts to provide for the safety and health of children, based on the unique facts on the ground,” Cooper said…. (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

Rick Scott: Floridians Should Get COVID Vax if They Feel ‘Comfortable’ With It

District of Columbia, Florida | August 8, 2021

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., on Sunday refused to support growing pressure for his state — hit hard by a surge in COVID-19 cases — to mandate vaccines, saying residents should get vaccinated if they feel “comfortable” with it.

In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Scott, a former Florida governor, blasted the Biden administration’s virus information pipeline.

“I’ve done everything I can to try to make sure people are comfortable getting the vaccine,” he said. “I think that’s what every Republican I know is trying [to do,] to get people good information and just tell people, ‘if you feel comfortable, get the vaccine.’’’

“I hope no one else gets sick,” he added, but urged: “Let people make their choices. This is not a country where we need people telling us what to do. I love my mom, I hate her telling me what to do. Give me good information, I will make a good decision.”

According to Scott, good information isn’t what the Biden administration is handing out….

DeSantis slammed Biden Admin After Psaki Makes False Statement About His Handling Of Pandemic In Florida

Florida | August 3, 2021

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’s office slammed the Biden administration Monday after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made false claims about DeSantis’s handling of the pandemic in Florida.

“Twenty percent of the cases we’re seeing are in Florida. There are steps and precautions that can be taken, including encouraging people to get vaccinated, encouraging people to wear masks, including allowing schools to mandate masks and allowing kids to wear masks, which is not the current state of play in Florida,” Psaki said.

“So, you know, at a certain point, leaders are going to have to choose whether they’re going to follow public health guidelines or they’re going to follow politics and we certainly encourage all governors to follow the public health guidelines,” she continued… (Excerpts from the Daily Wire)
