Republicans fight for Latino voters in Democratic strongholds
Arizona, California, Florida, Texas | October 13, 2021
Latinos make up the largest non-white ethnic group in the United States. Voting rights activists from Mi Familia Vota said after years of being ignored, they are seeing significant investments from politicians trying to reach out to the Latino community. As the largest non-white ethnic group in the United States continues to grow, Latinos have become a focal point for Republicans and Democrats alike. But Héctor Sánchez Barba, the executive director and CEO of the Latino-focused civic engagement organization Mi Familia Vota, said that Latino voters must be prepared to identify which efforts are performative and what political promises will be kept. “Nobody has a free ride with the Latino vote,” Sánchez Barba told ABC News. “The important part is this is not a transactional element, just for the Latino vote. It [must be] a serious holistic engagement on Latino priorities.”…. (Excerpts from ABC News)

Republican candidates tack toward right on abortion
Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia | September 30, 2021
Republicans across the country are working to appeal to the party’s anti-abortion voter base ahead of next year’s midterms elections by lurching further to the right on the deeply controversial issue than their primary competitors. In Nevada, former Sen. Dean Heller voiced his support for the near-total ban on abortion in Texas as he announced his campaign for governor. Meanwhile in Ohio, three Republican Senate candidates have very publicly thrown their support behind “fetal heartbeat” legislation. In New Hampshire, Gov. Chris Sununu (R), a potential Senate candidate, is facing backlash from Democrats for signing a state budget that included a ban on the procedure after 24 weeks of pregnancy and mandatory ultrasounds before abortions take place. The issue has also come up in other closely watched races, including in Virginia and Arizona. Despite facing backlash from Democrats on the issue, conservatives say the move to the right is essential for winning a Republican primary…. (Excerpts from The Hill)

The full draft report was expected today but members of the team have tested positive for COVID-19.
Senate President Karen Fann released the following statement today….
Monday, August 23, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from Senate President Fann
“Today we are receiving a portion of the draft report from the election audit analysis team. The team expected to have the full draft ready for the Senate today, but unfortunately Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan and two other members of the five-person audit team have tested positive for COVID-19 and are quite sick. In addition to the illnesses, it wasn’t until Thursday that the Senate received the images of the ballot envelopes from Maricopa County and are hoping to have those analyzed as soon as possible to incorporate those results into the final report. The Senate legal team will meet Wednesday to start reviewing the draft report, and when the remainder of the draft is submitted, the Senate team will hold another meeting to continue checking for accuracy, clarity, and proof of documentation of findings. Once that is complete, the final report will be presented to the Senate Judiciary Committee and findings released to the public.”.. (Excerpts from the Gateway Pundit)

Arizona Election Audit Exposes GOP Rifts as 2022 Midterms Loom
Arizona | August 23, 2021
Nine months after the 2020 election and as preparations for next year’s midterm elections get under way, Arizona Republicans are split over whether a review of November’s election result in the state’s most populous county will turn off, or reassure, voters. President Biden won Arizona over former President Donald Trump with a margin of just over 10,000 votes out of more than 3.3 million cast statewide. A recount of a sample of ballots in Maricopa County found no issues. Two firms accredited by the federal U.S. Election Assistance Commission, considered the gold standard for the industry, tested Maricopa’s voting machines and said they passed. As Mr. Trump continued to contest the results of the election and called on his supporters to do the same, Republicans in Arizona’s state Senate commissioned another review led by a Florida-based company called Cyber Ninjas Inc. Cyber Ninjas says it may complete the review this month…. Excerpts from (the Wall Street Journal)
